PFCS Inquiry approach to learning:
The principals of our teaching and learning program includes an integrated and directed ‘inquiry approach to learning’. This approach uses whole class, small group and individual involvement. It encourages the development of concept development, research and critical thinking skills whilst giving the students a sense of ownership of their work, personal development and involvement in global issues.
PFCS integrates visible learning and discovery learning into each and every inquiry unit. All students from grade 1 – 6 conduct mini inquiries on focused concept points. The students are ‘in-charge’ and ‘direct’ their learning. As teachers we move from facilitators to activators of learning potential.
The inquiry approach to learning allows students to focus on specialised interest areas and provides opportunities to address individual learning needs as they arise.
