Port Fairy Consolidated School the students are involved in gardening and cooking to learn about seasonal produce, healthy garden ecosystems and how important it is to value and use local produce.
The kitchen garden program provides a great opportunity for our students to put into practice reading, writing, numeracy and science skills in each session.
Our student’s work together to grow food in our organic vegetable garden. We harvest the produce from the garden and use it to prepare wonderful dishes. Together we share the variety of dishes created in the kitchen.
Our students also share their culinary skills with the broader community through our Shared Hands program. Where we hold community dinners and invite PFCS families to share in the program with school dinners.
